Commitment to sustainability
We try to run Express Editors and our associated consultancy Eco Editors on a sustainable basis.
Measures we take include:
We intend installing solar power in our new home-based office at Killcare Heights in 2020. (Until very recently, tall eucalyptus trees on a neighbouring property meant our roof was in shadow for most of the day!)
We also regularly publish green tips in our newsletter Exclaim!
Ethics
We prefer to work for companies or organisations that maintain high environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards. We choose not to work for coal, oil or gas companies or organisations that are contributing to pollution and the climate crisis. We will not be involved in green wash or promoting unsafe products or unfair work practices.
Not-for-profit organisations
We like working with not-for-organisations and can negotiate special reduced rates for registered charities.
Eco Editors
Our associated consultancy Eco Editors has a special focus on sustainability, the environment and ecotourism. It offers editorial services to companies, government agencies, wildlife and ecotourism ventures and not-for-profit organisations.
We can edit sustainability reports in line with best international practice, create lively brochures on ecotourism, write articles on conservation issues and translate complex scientific information into lively copy that is easily understood by the public.
Measures we take include:
- putting up external blinds to reduce the need for air conditioning
- using public transport when possible
- using 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper or FSC paper
- buying recycled office furniture
- purchasing recycled ink cartridges
- reducing waste
- composting green waste
- planting trees around our home office
- paying to offset carbon emissions on air flights.
